About this tour
A craft that outlasted empires
Banarasi silk is not a souvenir. It is a living tradition — woven on hand-looms in cramped, light-filled rooms by families who have inherited the same patterns, the same hand movements, and the same sense of pride across five, six, sometimes ten generations.
On this two-hour tour, your local guide takes you into those rooms. You'll watch artisans pull gold zari thread through thousands of warp strands, producing a centimetre of fabric per hour. You'll feel the weight and warmth of a finished brocade sari. You'll hear the rhythmic clack of the loom — the oldest music in Varanasi.
The weaving community holds GI rights for "Banaras Brocades and Sarees." Only textiles produced in six specific districts — including Varanasi — can carry the Banarasi name. What you witness here is legally, authentically, irreplaceably the real thing.

What You'll Taste
Eight stops. Infinite stories.
1
Kachori Sabzi
The quintessential Banarasi breakfast — a puffed lentil pastry shattered into a tamarind-spiked gravy, eaten standing at a century-old stall.
Tamatar Chaat
Born in Varanasi, this smoky-sweet-sour chaat of simmered tomatoes topped with crunchy sev and chillies exists nowhere else with this intensity.
2
Malaiyyo
A mystical Banarasi dessert of whipped morning dew and milk, lighter than air, flavoured with saffron and cardamom. Found only in winter mornings
Lassi
The most famous clay-pot lassi in India, served from a tiny shop that has had the same recipe — and the same long queue — since the 1940s.
Sarnath Archaeological Museum
Hawa Mahal is Jaipur's most recognisable face — five storeys, 953 carved windows, built in 1799 so the royal women could watch street life without being seen. You've probably seen pictures. You haven't seen it like this: the plaza empty, the soft morning light working through all that lattice-work, and nobody jostling for a photograph beside you.
Your guide will tell you the story behind it — why it was built, what the design actually solved, what the royal protocol looked like. Then you take your photo and cycle on.
Thai Buddha Vihara — The 80-Foot Standing Buddha
You don't enter the City Palace — you cycle around it, which turns out to be its own kind of experience. The grand gateways, the layered Mughal-Rajput architecture, the scale of the whole compound — all of it reads differently when you're on a bicycle rather than in a vehicle, and there's nobody else around to break the spell.
